About Our Ministry

The Dominican Republic is an island nation just 600 miles south east of Florida, with a population of over 8.5 million people.  On his trip to discover the new world Christopher Columbus proclaimed that the Dominican Republic was,  "the fairest land under heaven". The DR is a Spanish speaking country best known for its professional baseball players.  However, Dominicans produce much more than just top quality athletes.  Coconuts, sugar cane, coffee, rice and bananas are top exports.  Some of the most beautiful beaches in the world can also be found in the DR, and tourism is a very important part of the economy.
Statistics show that 95 % of the population is Roman Catholic.  Our ministry varies; but our goal is simple.  Win the lost to Jesus Christ.
Our vision is to:

- Establish Bible believing Baptist churches
- Train and Disciple Nationals
- Literature and tract distribution
- Host and train short-term mission groups
- Give Honor and glory to our Savior

We currently are working in the mountain town of Jarabacoa.  In April 2005, we started Jarabacoa Baptist Temple and we now run on average about 50 people. With the help from many supporting churches we finished our new church building, although there is some finish work on the inside, and had our first services there in May of 2007.   Please pray that God will continue to bless His work here and help us to reach the people of Jarabacoa.

Ever since arriving on the island the Lord put a burden on our hearts to reach the growing population of Haitians in Jarabacoa.  In May of 2008 we were able to start the first Baptist church specifically designed to reach Haitians.  This new ministry is called Grace Baptist Church.  The services at Grace are held in Creole.  Jeff preaches in Spanish and since we do not speak Creole he uses an interpreter as needed.  Grace is now averaging around 75 in attendance.

We ask that you please pray for the Garrison family and especially for the salvation of the people of the Dominican Republic.
